I’ve been interested in fitness and nutrition since my teen years, but optimum nutrition really became an all-consuming passion to pursue and share with others, after I was diagnosed with extremely low levels of Vitamin D. I wondered how a well-rounded person such as myself was up until that point, unaware of the overwhelming importance of Vitamin D, and the crucial role it plays in building and maintaining immunity. Why was this lifesaving fact not shouted from the rooftops? Why had it not been taught to me in school, even before driver’s ed? I was also shocked to discover that most Americans are unknowingly, severely deficient in Vitamin D and that this deficiency is the root cause of many health issues. So there began my quest to be more nutritionally informed, pass it on, and encourage people to lead more wholesome lives via healthier daily nutritional choices.

Smoothies are a quick and healthy way to get the all essential Vitamin D (if using plantmilk) and a host of other nutrients in the earlier part of your day. I am not a fan of big breakfasts during the week, so smoothies are perfect as they can provide the nutrition of a full breakfast without the bulk/weight.

My creations, especially those with a high protein content are quite filling and many will easily keep you going until lunchtime, while providing you with super nutrition. They also make wonderful snacks to enjoy anytime of day or night!

I love to cook and am always creating all kinds of new recipes, spanning a wide variety of global flavors, but for the sake of saving time, I find smoothies to be the best form of nutrition to focus on developing and sharing, at this time.
